Phalaenopsis "Nemo"
Jan. 27, 2015: Nemo is probably to blame for getting me so involved in orchids. He was sitting on my desk and I started noticing the new sprouts he was sending out from above the bottom two leaves. I thought it was such a good sign (which I suppose it is) but what I learned when I was inspired to search, was that basically all of his other roots were rotted and these new ones were just signs he was struggling to find a better habitat. I repotted him correctly and now I expect he's going to thrive. The bottom two leaves are a bit dry and yellow, but he's growing a new tiny little one deep inside the center. The roots he has left in the bottom are doing well and I'll take photos of the roots as time goes on.
Feb. 02, 2015: Nemo seems to be doing well. His new leaf is coming along. I accidentally broke off one of his roots when I was clipping off an old spike but the other new roots are growing into the potting mixture. Yesterday I took some lemon juice and shined up the leaves on all of my plants.
Feb. 12, 2015: Nemo's new leaf is doing very well. I'd like to see his roots improving a bit more, but the two longest ones seem to be fine and growing down into the medium.
