Phalaenopsis "Cybil"
Jan. 27, 2015: This is Cybil, so named because of her split leaf. This is one of my phalaenopsis that I've had for a while and do not know what color flowers she has. She doesn't appear to be growing new leaves at the moment and I assume this is due to her bad potting. I just corrected the medium but she still needs a better pot which I am working on.
Jan. 28, 2015: I have now repotted Cybil in this beautiful clear Solo cup. Her mixture got a bit more sphagnum moss so I'll need to be careful of the moisture. In the new pot, though, she should get plenty of air circulation.
Jan. 30, 2016: Cybil went through some rough times and I almost lost her. Then after some desperate attempts to save her, she started growing a flower spike. That spike started and stopped about two times, growing new spikes from the side of the original. One of them finally stuck and ended up growing these flowers. They are not the nicest flowers and overall the plant looks fairly rough around the edges. I'm not sure how she'll do once these flowers are gone, but hopefully she'll recover. The leaves just suddenly started turning orange so I had to cut two of the main leaves off leaving only little stubs. The flowers developed buds but they took an unusually long time to open. So long that I was sure they would blast.
