Beallara Marfitch Howards Dream
Jan. 27, 2015: Last night I bought this Beallara along with the Lady Slipper and am excited to see how she does. When I got her, she had dropped a flower though it looked like it had been pulled off. I used the pollen from the flower to pollinate the Tahoma Glacier I had in the living room. I'll be updating the progress of any seed pod on the Tahoma Glacier page. This Beallara also had a damaged leaf that appears to be just scrapes and hopefully doesn't indicate any problems with the health of the plant itself. I'll be repotting her when her flowers drop. In the meantime will be sure to check in on her moisture to be sure she doesn't dry out too much.
Jan. 28, 2015: I noticed today that there is this tiny little black spot on one of the leaves. It reminds me of cigarette burns in those old cars that had that horrible foam interior. There's a little nub around the spot but it doesn't look like it's spreading. I'll have to keep an eye on this. I also noticed this area on a pseudobulb where it appears the leaves were cut off or fell off, but it looks like maybe there's new growth there. This is the same pseudobulb that has the one scraped up leaf.
Mar. 17, 2015: Well, the flowers on my Marfitch Howard's Dream have finally faded. The last two flowers are still hanging on so I'll wait to post photos until the spike has dried and I can cut it off. This will make the blooming period that I got enjoy was 7 weeks! Not bad. And if I can get her to rebloom, I'll get to enjoy the entire period from start to finish which should be even longer. I repotted her today so I'll include a photo of the whole plant in my next update.
Mar. 18, 2015: I've posted an update about the new pseudobulbs here.
